Stone and Sinatra were familiar with each other, often rubbing elbows at locations like the Fontainebleau on Miami Beach. As a distributor, Stone had long been involved with the Reprise Records label, Warner Bros, and its President, Mo Ostin.

In fact, in a 2013 interview, Stone recalled the time he had to explain to a phalanx of security goons who Mo Ostin was, and to let him backstage at a Sinatra show.
