On December 6th, 2008, Henry Stone had a great interview with Craig Charles on his Funk and Soul Show on Radio BBC 6 in England. They talked about Henry’s 60 year history in the music business in Miami, his first recordings of Ray Charles and James Brown. How Henry discovered KC and the Sunshine Band. They talked about Sam and Dave, Little Beaver, George & Gwen McCrae, Betty Wright, and all the other great acts that defined an era of music and created two dozen gold and platinum hits on Henry Stone’s record labels like TK Records, Marlin, Dash, Drive, Dade, and so many others. Here are video recordings of the interviews, as well as some interesting post-interview chatting.

  1. Henry,
Sheri sent me this link. SO glad to see you doing well. Wonderful that you are getting the recognition you deserve.
I have such fond memories of you and your family.
    Enjoy!
    Love you,
    JoAnn Jewett

  2. Hello Henry,

I know you remember Billy Proctor recorded on Glades … “Chop Down that Oak Tree”. I was co writer and co producer with Gene Allan under Jerry Ross’ stable of artists and producers. Just want to say hello to you! I live not too far in Naples, florida … I wish you all the best of good health … check out “What is Black” a story about a blind boy who asks his bro … about COLOR which he cannot see! Obama or Oprah should hear this song, if for nothing else, “Inspiration”. Thank you once again Henry!

  3. Hi Gary Knight!

I don’t know if you’ll see this message. I was just wondering about your dealings with Philly musicians. I’ve collected the tracks you wrote or produced with Gene Allan for artists like The Courtship(s), Donny Beaumont, and Sara Dash. Did you record the Donny Beaumont stuff at Sigma or with the MFSB guys? The Courtship recordings both sound they were recorded with the MFSB guys, the second 45 being released on Glades. Did you record any other artist using the Philly musicians? Thank you!

  4. hi gary, i also want to know about the courtship. were you in this group ? and if not what happened to them, and where are they now ? any info will help, thank you.
