Dear Gwen,
Well, we finally got to really work together this time. You’d think that after knowing each other for thirteen years that we wouldo have tried this a lot sooner. Timing is somethin’ else, isn’t it! The Bible says, God knows the reins and hearts of every man; then I’m sure he knows ours.
I ahve come out of this experience of recording you a changed worman. Emotionally you were overwhelming. You are a true “Sag.”
I do hope this album is a vehicle by which you will achieve higher goals that you could fathom. I’m praying for you Sis.
May God fulfill his unchanging promise to you.
Much love Sis,
Betty Wright-McCray

“Latimore’s new album titled All About the Rhythm and the Blues is his best work in years,” says the legendary Henry Stone, who was involved from the first note recorded on this album. According to Stone, “Latimore has created a masterpiece.”

Latimore’s always smooth, rich, full vocals and masterful keyboard performances, along with Stone’s unique approach of guidance and top recording industry pros, like George “Chocolate” Perry on bass, percussion, state of the art audio recording and mix engineering skills, as well as true grassroots Blues guitar man, Warren ”Roach” Thompson, perform the soulful Blues grooves with a style and drive that is unstoppable.

The melodies, the riffs and the rhythms, will reach deep down into that place that makes you close your eyes and bob your head. It is that, “Oooh! It sounds so good, I can feel it in my chest,” that puts that easy blues look on your face. You know the one! When you don’t care who is watching or what you’re doing, it just grabs ahold of you and makes you groove!

Please exercise caution when operating a car or heavy equipment. You want to keep your eyes open. Henry Stone, founder and owner of famed TK Records, and Latimore, of “Let’s Straighten It Out” fame, are back together and have created the new LatStone Record Label.

The new label venture came about in mid-2006 while Henry Stone was working on the latest Gwen McCrae album in “Chocolate” Perry’s South Florida recording studio. Coincidentally, Latimore was also working on his newest album project in the same studio.

Stone and Latimore have a rich history together in the music business. Although they had been apart for some years, they have always remained good friends.

On breaks during the recording sessions, Latimore expressed his interest in working with Stone again. They struck a deal to launch the new LatStone Record Label. The first release would be Latimore’s new album BACK ‘ATCHA. This was the first time that Latimore would have full creative control on his work since he had last been with Stone.

Stone and Latimore began their working relationship in the late sixties when keyboard player and singer Latimore was brought to Stone’s attention by Steve Alaimo. Stone arranged a recording session for Latimore and they had quite a few successful records.

In late 1973, they hit pay dirt when they recorded a remake of the old blues classic “Stormy Monday” which was released on Stone’s Glades label. The single charted high on the Billboard R&B charts. After this single, Benny Latimore dropped his first name and forever more went by Latimore.

In September of 1974, Latimore recorded his self-penned “Let’s Straighten It Out” which hit Gold with a #1 single on the Billboard R&B charts, as well as crossing over to the Pop charts.

Latimore’s latest album Back ‘Atcha is a unique blend of soul and blues with a hint of funk and the signature smooth, rich vocal style that lifted Latimore to the top of the Billboard R&B and Pop charts. Latimore employed some of his favorite musicians to work on this album. George “Chocolate” Perry played bass and drums, not to mention that he engineered the entire album. Chocolate is the ultimate professional. He has toured with the Bee Gees, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Joe Walsh.

Next on Latimore’s list was a true blues icon in the south, Mr. Roach Thompson. Roach is not only a musician’s musician, but he too has jumped into the technical side of the business as a mastering engineer and was the man who mastered the new Latimore CD.

Michael Gauthier played some key horn parts for the album, hitting the groove in just the right spots.

Latimore played all other parts on the Back ‘Atcha album. He is very pleased with the results on this production. One highlight that stands out is his decision to use a skill that he perfected on the road, but had yet to use in the studio. On his Yamaha Motif Keyboard he has introduced the sound of a solo guitar, saxophone and trumpet, playing solos that are hard to tell from the real thing. Latimore did this as an artistic decision.

Latimore and Stone have joined forces again and produced another chart-topping album.

“It’s been a joy teaming up with Latimore again to form the new LatStone Record Label with Latimore singing in his great soulful style for the new album Back ’Atcha.” ~ Henry Stone

Born in Charleston, TN in 1939, Benny Latimore was influenced by country music, his Baptist church choir, and the Blues. WLAC, via the strong evening signal from Nashville, was a favorite in Latimore’s youth.

Benny Latimore, who was produced by Steve Alaimo, describes “The Miami Sound” as a kind of combination of R&B and Jazz.

In a career spanning over 35 years and beginning with recordings in the1960s for Miami music legend Henry Stone, the gems on this CD were cut on the Dade label long before Benny’s success on the Glades/T.K. label. These early recordings for Dade are solid deep soul, graced by Latimore’s deep, sultry voice.

Included on this disc are the much sought after 1965 hits, “I Can’t Go On Anymore” and “Rain From the Sky”, originally recorded on Stone’s Blade label. These are treasures that until now only a few collectors were lucky enough to have. Today we bring them to you for the world to hear.
“Sensational” really is the best word to describe Latimore. He proved to be extremely adept as both a superlative vocalist and keyboard player par excellence. Benny Latimore is Florida’s master soul stylist.

Rickey Calloway hails from Jacksonville, Florida. As a teen, he worked local nightclubs imitating James Brown. “Tell Me” was the 17-year-old Calloway’s first step in songwriting.

Calloway is a groove master like no other. He spent time in New York working with the Dap Kings, the band that also backs up Grammy award-winning artist Amy Winehouse.

Much of Calloway’s music is a reminder of James Brown’s music that really touches you. He started out doing a James Brown impersonation act in a talent contest at age 13 and went on to find his own style. And here he pays tribute to the man who gave him his early motivation.

A Legacy of Entertainment

iTunes

The King Tutt Band originated deep in the heart and soul of Montgomery, Alabama. For the last five decades, the name King Tutt has symbolized excellence in stage performance, vocal talent and instrumental mastery. With the retirement of William “King” Tutt, Sr. in 1965, William, Jr. was quick to carry on the tradition.

In the following years, the band played as back-up musicians for many top recording stars. Eventually, the band traveled abroad, they traveled to a great many places, Germany, Sweden, France, Italy, and Hawaii, receiving standing ovations after every engagement.

Being able to duplicate the Top 20 R&B, Pop and Rock with accuracy and mix original scoring, as well as innovative new musical tracks gives the King Tutt Band a definite edge in an exciting night of entertainment.

Having released two hit singles, “Keep On Jukin’” and “Dancin’”, the band started touring the United States, from Washington, DC to Los Angeles, CA. Again, the band drew packed houses with standing audiences applauding knock-out performances.

And the legacy continues…

In the year 2008, the band was re-introduced to Henry Stone, the pioneer of the record industry, founder of TK Records. Robert Henderson had a dream that the King Tutt Band would make a comeback. So, he put the dream into reality, and once again the King Tutt Band is entertaining.

The members are Sheffield Walker on lead guitar, Roosevelt Bradley on lead guitar, Malon Waits on bass guitar, Eric Perkins on keyboard and horn arrangements, William “King” Tutt on percussion, Irving “Bo” Galigher as vocalist, Eugene Lacey as vocalist, and A. J. Tutt as background vocalist.
