A Visit to George “Chocolate” Perry’s Studio for Mixing Session on New Latimore Album
“George “Chocolate” Perry is an amazing producer and bass player that started working for me at TK Productions when he was just 16 years old. We used to call him “the kid,” and then later he got his nickname “Chocolate.” You can hear his bass playing on big hit records like Gwen McCrae’s “Rockin’ Chair,” Little Beaver’s “Party Down,” and just about every Blowfly album.
Through TK he got connected with other huge acts and he has toured with everyone from the Bee Gees to John Cougar, Jon Secada, Stephen Stills, Crosby Stills & Nash, Al Kooper, Dion, Joe Walsh, and many many more.
He’s the bass player on Dolly Parton’s “Islands In The Stream.”
He’s also the producer and engineer on Latimore’s new album, “Latimore Remembers Ray Charles,” and let me tell ya, it sounds great! I went up to Choco’s studio yesterday with my son Joe Stone and we got a listen to the mixes on “Halleluah,” “Georgia,” and “Unchain My Heart.” Man, they did a phenomenal job.
I can’t wait to put this out for the world to hear. I think you’re really gonna love it as much as I do.
Here are some more pics from the studio.
